Youth
Enhancement Seminars
The Juvenile Assessment Center implemented the Youth Enhancement Seminars
August 1999 at the JAC. The program
is a continued growing success. The
goal of the YES is to provide Youth with valuable information on topics youth
deal with throughout their teen years and early adulthood. This knowledge will help the youth to make the best positive
choices in their lives.
Some of the past Seminars were:
- Career Exploration—speaker SSG Mack, US Army recruiter; Ms Lori
Bumgarnen, Director of Career Services- Methodist College; and Mr. John
Williams, Assistant Director of Admissions- Fayetteville State University.

Substance Abuse Education- Speaker Mr. JJ Jones, Substance Abuse
Counselor for CC Mental Health; and Ms Sabrina McDonald, Education
Specialist for CC Mental Health.
- Safe
Sex Education- speakers Ms Barbara Carroway, Supervisor Health
Educational Specialist for CC Health Department, Ms Kim Lewis Educational
Coordinator for CC Rape Crisis Center
- Coping
with Peer Pressure/Ethics- speaker Mr. Garrett Davis, Assistant Program
Director at Foxy 99 FM; Mr. Connell Maynor, Professional Football
Player/Actor.
- Multi-Cultural
Awareness – Ms Johnnie Jones, Certified Reunification Counselor for
the Multi-Cultural Community Development Resource Center.
- Sexual
Assault; Sedrick Byrant, Educational
Specialist for CC Rape Crisis Awareness Center.
