Intervention Services Provided By JAC

 

  • Referral screening and telephone assessment and guidance

  • Comprehensive assessment process, crisis intervention and linkage to appropriate treatment and/or intervention specialists

  • Preliminary assessment through Intake

  • Immediate referrals to existing community services as needed

  • Strengths and goal based case management planning

  • Linkage and referral to existing community services through
    Case Management component.

  • Follow-up services within 12 months of termination from the Juvenile Assessment Center

Target Population of JAC

 

  • Youth ages 6 up to 17

  • Youth alleged to be delinquent or undisciplined and may have been taken into custody, or

  • Youth at risk of becoming delinquent or undisciplined because they are exhibiting behavioral problems and may have committed delinquent acts even though they have not been taken into custody.

  • Note: Youth determined to be violent felons will not be served.

 

Referral Process

Referrals can come from anyone, but they typically come from child serving agencies such as the Juvenile Court, the DJJDP Court Counselors, the Schools, the Department of Social Services, Mental Health, from parents and friends, from Attorneys and other professionals.

Typical referrals are usually made to the JAC in 1 of 5 ways:

Once a referral has been received, the parents /guardians are contacted and an appointment is negotiated. Acceptance of services is strictly voluntarily. Referring agencies will be notified of progress being made if they so request.
